Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
PV, short for Photovoltaic, derives its name from the process of converting light (‘photo’) directly into electricity (‘voltaic’). Simply put, a Solar PV system is a power station that generates electricity from sunlight.
The main components of a Solar PV system are:
Solar Panels or Modules: Solar panels consist of a group of small cells made from semiconductor material. When the sun’s light falls on the modules, it excites the electrons, thereby creating direct current (DC).
Solar Inverter: The DC electricity goes into an inverter that converts it into alternating current (AC). We use AC for running our household or office or factory equipment.
Storage Battery (optional): The best use of solar energy is to consume it while it is being generated. If the requirement is to store this power and consume it in the non-sunny hours, then solar energy can be stored in batteries for later consumption
Solar panels absorbs sun’s limitless energy during the day time and in turn convert it into DC – Direct Current. Conventionally, establishments run using AC electricity (Alternating Current); which is why the DC currents are then made to pass via an inverter to render the electricity usable. Once that is done, you either use the power generated directly in your establishment or you can also send it over to the main electric grid. The quantum of power generated is directly proportional to the sunlight on offer. Hence, there will be no energy generation during night time and respectively lesser during cloudy weather.
Why should I opt for solar energy?
Does a Solar PV system produce same energy output throughout the day?
What is the cost of maintaining solar panels?
Is solar energy affordable for me?
Is my roof compatible with solar panels?
Will my solar panels generate power even when the sun isn’t shining?
Will I continue to receive power bills even after installing solar panels?
Our team of experts & technicians will be at your assistance every step of the way providing all the necessary information beforehand. A team of installers will undertake a complete survey of the site and give you an exact estimate of what’s needed. The size of the solar system will depend on the value of kilowatt-hours used by your establishment in the past year. You may choose to increase or decrease as well as per your requirement.
Given the status quo of the negative effects of climate change in today’s consumer driven world, opting for solar energy seems like a foregone conclusion. Apart from the environmental effects, not only do you incur cost savings when it comes to your current electricity bills but you save yourself from rising power rates in the future as well. The extent of your savings will vary according to the solar policies and utility charges in your location. Solar power, being a renewable energy source doesn’t leave a carbon footprint like many other sources. It reduces the overall greenhouse emissions, which is one of the major causes of global warming. Also, it reduces the extent of harmful air pollutants like particulate matter and sulfur dioxide, which are known to cause serious health issues. Lastly, studies have proven that a home which comes pre-installed with solar power systems generally sells for more than one without.
Since Solar PV works on the basis of the intensity of sunlight it gets, your solar system typically wakes up at around 6am in the morning and goes to sleep at about 6 or 7pm in the evening. The energy output increases gradually and peaks at around noon and then gradually decreases as the Sun starts setting. But since the solar energy produced integrates either with your existing electrical connection or with your batteries, the running of your electrical equipment is not impacted. Moreover, if your Solar PV system is designed well, all your electrical equipment is totally safe.
Normally, solar panels need negligible maintenance for the better part of 25-35 years. Having been made from sturdy tempered glass and high-quality materials, the panels exhibit a top-grade longevity quotient staying functional for a long time. Another add-on is the fact that the panels don’t require much cleaning either.
If you are used to paying your power bill regularly, you can easily make the transition to solar energy as well. Incurring negligible maintenance costs or the need for cleaning and repair, it is an ideal fit for establishments of all types. Not only will your initial investment be recovered, your electricity costs will be significantly cut down right from the get go.
Only if you have gone completely off-grid and you are using solar panels that come equipped with batteries, you will continue to receive power bills. Commonly, establishments do stay connected to the grid which acts as a much-needed energy buffer if and when the panels aren’t generating the amount of electricity needed. However, you can significantly cut down your total electricity bills after taking the solar plunge.
